Just got back from my favorite LFS with my latest acquisition....another anabantoid. I was browsing the tanks and happened to notice a 'different' fish swimming around in a tank full of Giant Danios. I recognized the little beastie immediately and just had to have it! It is Anabas testudineus - the climbing perch. This one is about 2 1/2 inches long and on his way to its maximum length of about 10 inches. The nicest thing about it was that the LFS sold it to me for $2.99, which was the price of the Danios it was mixed in with!

Here it is....acclimating in its bag before going into its new home.

An t-iasg.....

What appears to be a hole near the pectoral fin is actually just a black marking...one of the few bits of 'color' that this fish has. :)
