I stopped by Meijer on Friday to... well, to pick up some bourbon- hey, it's the weekend! While I was there, I thought I'd just do a quick walk-through in the pet dept and just see what the fish looked like. I picked up a couple of harlequin rasboras to bring my total up to 5, and I was getting ready to leave when I saw the cups....
It's terrible to see the male bettas in cups, but IMO it's even worse to see the females in there, because they make such good community fish most of the time. I found this little female that just looked too sad to pass up, so I bought her too. She didn't know what to do with herself when I let her out into my 45 gallon tank! :D Here are some pics I snapped while she was still in the cup. They're awful, but give you a general idea of her color.

Today I went back to do a little grocery shopping... and to rescue a couple more females from the cups! They are acclimating right now, and will be released into the 45 in a bit. With all the species I've kept over the past few years, I've never kept female bettas, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they do in my tank. Here are a few more bad pics, but you can see the color:

The little white one has been resting on my anubias leaves for most of the weekend, but she's started to venture out. We'll see how they do together, but with as much plant cover as I have in that tank, I think they will probably be ok. :D

Lovely...enjoy them. :) They're so similar to mine (I have--as my partner pointed out--red, white and blue as well). I haven't had bettas since I was a kid and these were my first girls too--they're great!

Nice fish. I always feel sorry for the betta's when I see them in the stores.

The white one actually has very light bluish-purpleish fins. The pics don't do any of them justice!

awesome! I tried to keep females together but they ended up fighting to much :( but yours are some beautiful colors!

They are all beautiful! Maybe the peach one will show better colors when she's acclimated more. I know sometimes colors don't show up well in a picture, especially the ones that catch the light and show another color. I hope they all do well for you!
