New Polypterus

Hmmmmm....Petsmart is now selling BABY Polypterus as 'Dinosaur Eels'! Can't tell what species yet but I suspect they're P. senegalus. I just couldn't resist....they had 5 of them...the biggest was about 2 inches. I bought all 5 (at $4.99 each) and then bought a new 10 gallon tank as a grow-out. Pics as soon as I can get them!

Oh....and my 26 gallon bow-front is no longer a 'low-light' tank. I had the standard 15watt bulb (18 inches) on it...giving me less than 1 watt per gallon. I picked up a 65watt compact fluorescent fixture today....WOW! what a difference!! 2.5 watts per gallon should do amazing things for my plants!

Yeah....I'm a real sucker for Polypterus and these little babies are just so darned CUTE!! By the time they outgrow the 10 gallon I should have my 72 gallon African river biotope tank up and running. They'll fit in just fine!!
