Woohoo. New here, Here's mostly the story: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f59/wassuuup-161753.html
So I have a 48" long 50 gallon tank to set up for FW. Most likely some fantail goldfish. Found a setup on craigslist for $40, redoing the silicone now. It came with a Visa Therm 150 watt heater, tested it to make sure the thermostat works, it heats up a 5 gallon bucket to 85 real quick and shuts off when it's supposed to so I think I'm good with that. The filter on it was a Whisper 20-40 so I'm thinking of getting an Aquaclear 70 and running a air powered sponge filter.
I believe I want to go with a black background and white sand. I figure the bright fish will look good against the black, and with white sand on the bottom I can find the fish turds easy to suck them out, no?
If I do PFS can I still get pygmy cories for the bottom? Any other sand suggestions welcome.
