I got my Blue Jaw Trigger fish end of January. He's always been a little shy. I have a hollow decoration of two old jugs stuck together. I purchase this mid February for another hiding place for him. Over time I've noticed he rarely swims yo far away from it. Now, the past day and a half he will come out for a couple minutes then go back in for an hour our so then come out for a couple of minutes then go back in. He does stay at the opening often and watches what's going on.
Does anyone know if this is typical behavior for a Blue Jaw Trigger?
I don't see any signs of Ick and his breathing seems normal. My other fish are acting normal.

This is normal behavior. Many fish will not stray far from their homes. If he stops eating than you will have to be concerned.
