Also when the bubbles come to the surface they pop sending SW to the rim of your tank causing a crusty salt creep at the top of the tank and on your lights.

i have that same problem with my freshwater set up. the only difference is the build up that i get is from how hard my water is. i have 3 bubble stones in my tank.
 
Best to add a low GPH powerhead if you need more circulation. Airstones do not work well in a SW tank :)
