Circulation pumps

I Am about to order 2 circulation pumps and was wondering for a 70 gallon, 4' tank, is it better to get 2 equal gph or one higher and one lower. Is 700 gph correct amount that I will need for my tank? Thanks.

Lindsay

Hi!

You can get 2 of the same, that's fine. You can even put them on a wave maker. For example I use to have 2 koralia's hooked up to a Hydor smartwave unit. Then I bit the bullet and hit the Vortech MP10 which is amazing but not cheap.

The only ones that would be close would be 2) 425gph but that equals 850 gph for a 70 gallon is that too much? Or should I get one 425 and one 240 gph? Thanks.

You can do the 2 425's it's a 70 gallon so you'll be fine. I had 2 425's on my bio cube 29. I felt they were ok, wasn't really happy with the flow they gave out. Since your tank is bigger you go bigger. Remember you wanna try and eliminate any dead spots.

Do you think I should up it to 2 770's or maybe a 770 & 550? I found a good deal on amazon for the 770 I just read 1 the gallon tank for a FOWLR tank. I didn't want to blow the fish around. Opinions?

You may be a lot happier with the 750's IMHO. I wasn't happy with 2 425's in a 29 gallon bio cube.

I just ordered 2 1400's for my 136 g fowlr tank. Think that'll be enough or should I still run my aqua clear 70 & 50, I'm also running a Catalina 1000 for my HOB fluidized filter, and a magnum 350 canister.

You want your flow to be 30-50x your tank volume per hour.
