Flow rate question

Ok, I am confused about an aspect of flowrates in a sw tank.

My 40 gal. tank is going to be morphing from a fowlr tank to a full blown reef slowly over the next year or so.

My setup that moves water in my system currently is as follows:

Fluval 404 canister = 340 gph
Remora Pro Skimmer w/ Rio 1400 = 375 gph
1 MaxiJet 600 = 160 gph

My question is do i add the canister and skimmer to the gph of the powerhead, to see if i reach my target gph flow which is 15x i hear is good for reefs?

Dave

Generally the gph output from the skimmer will be much less than the powerhead driving it and the canister when filled with media will be as much as half of it listed GPH. So if we figure 170 from the canister, 100 from the skimmer and 160 from the maxijet you get around 430, which is a little more than 10x. I would add one more maxijet 600 to get 15x.
