I I have a problem in my tank with the hair algae, I haven't been keeping up on my water changes so I figure that's what it is do too. How should I get rid of it?

Hi there
What are your levels of po4 and nitrate if their higher it will tribute towards it your other options are you could buy and urchin which Will keep it under control if not get rid of it all together

I had the same problem.i took everything out and wash it with hot water.i bought a green filter pad that removes phosphates.i cut my lighting down to 6 hours and its been almost two weeks and so far its good.i no longer rinse out my filters either.i change them every two weeks.i only have six fish and a shrimp in a 75 gallon and my tests have never been bad.

I have a sump, so would that pad work? and what is it called? I just need to keep up on my water changes it's just hard bc I'm in college and I can not work on my take at most once a week.
