Hitchhiking feather dusters

When I set my tank up back in November, I started with 40 pounds of lr. Recently I have noticed tiny feather dusters sticking their little fans out. There are more than I can actually count at any given time, or they could be moving when I am not looking because 2 or 3 times a week I see a new one that I had not seen before. What can I possibly do to help promote their growth? I have always wanted feather dusters, but was never able to have them because of the triggers I had but now I can. I would like to get them bigger, they are just too small to really enjoy at the moment.

They usually dont get that big. I have hundreds in my tank and they stay pretty small.

Hmmm....
The ones I have seen at the lfs are actually fairly good size. When their fans are open they were about 2 inches in diameter.

Am I possibly confusing what I may have with another type of species compared to what I have seen in the store?
