Live Rock?????

I currently have a 35 gallon four week old saltwater fish only tank. I am using an Emperor 400 for the filtration. Is it necessary that I have live rock and what are the steps with adding live rock? Thanks....

LR isn't "required" but so many people like it because it is a maintenance free natural filter that adds life and character to your tank.

when you say your tank is 4 weeks old, has it completed its cycle? if not, what stage are you in and how are you cycling it? This info will help a little in what advice we give for adding LR to your system.

Sorry..... The cycle process is complete. The four weeks that I mentioned are the weeks after the cycle process was complete.

and more importantly (IMO) it reduces nitrate. Usually to zero. Very few filters can reduce nitrate as effectively.
