My Tinker's Butterfly has arrived

Hello everyone. I finally got my Tinker's. After waiting for the right one, she is finally here. After waking up this morning and finding my Rhomboid swimming around the tank that was missing for 3 weeks, my Tinker's has arrived. What a great fish day!! It's like Christmas in spring. The fish is acclimating and I will post pics of her later. I have researched the Tinker's throughly, but I want to know people's personal experience with them. I was looking to get a wrought iron but after reading and asking you guys about them, I decided against the wrought because of the need for cooler water temp. So please share your pics of your Tinker's and experiences with this cool fish. Thanks Tim

Here's my Rhomboid that went MIA for the last three weeks. It grew about an inch and looks really healthy. She's swimming around and not hiding at all. I'll post pics of the Tinker's soon. Regards, Tim

Hello all. I have been really busy at work, doing the 15 hour days. So the story is of an estate manager in the Hamptons in the summer, but at least i get three months off in the winter. Anyway the Tinker Is doing well. Had a hard time getting him to eat until i fed him the gel based food recipe from the Waikiki Aquarium. He's eating well now. If only the the PBT would give him a break. I had to seperate him for a few days because of how nasty the PBT and the Black tang were towards him. Now they have accepted the Tinker's. Are you feeding the tangs dried macro-algae sheets? If not, you should, as Tinker's need macro-algae-based food as a large part of their diet to thrive. I'd also suggest adding a refugium to your setup, as the Tinker's especially are browsers on micro-crustaceans that the refugium will continually supply. In a refugium you can grow live macro-algae to feed to your fish.
I kept a specimen for about seven years before it passed. I discovered for optimum health and vitality they need the greens in their diet. I got the best results with the fish with 60-40 greens to meaty foods. He really liked green algae on stones the best.

Thanks Dave for the advice. The Tinker's at the Waikiki Aqurium has been alive for over 7 years and has been fed the gel based food recipe which I got. This recipe works amazing. The tank is a 180. Regards, Tim

All the fish look awesome but that is one is my favorites. I believe it is a borbonius anthias.

Those are all really great looking fish. I'm jealous...as most of those fish are way out of my ballpark. Sometimes I have a hard time justifying spending $50 on a 2"-3" fish, let alone 10x that amount.
Good luck with them. Can't wait to see the conspic...when you get it.
