Pregnant seahorse

Is there a way to tell when the seahorse will give birth. Are there certain things they may do to give it away? Also any tips on raising the fry. Like what foods to feed them, a good tank for them, and any other things. They are Hippocampus erectus seahorses. Would it be ok while they are young to use a tank thats made for saltwater because it has a very slow filtration system and has some lighting. Thanks.
