Eye guys just wondering if it's ok to remove rock to give them a clean off to remove any algee etc?

I'm guessing that this would be ok as long as I keep the rocks in some tank water in a bucket whilst I clean them. Also it's not really the live rock I need to clean as this looks fine, it's just the few peices of base rock that need the clean up as they are going live a dark green/black colour.
