Sand - Ever heard of this brand?

My local home depot only sells one brand of white sand, so I wanted to know if anyone if this sand is any good? It is "Mason's Mortar & Plaster Sand" by Pakmix.

I don't know about that one. You want aragonite sand, not silica based sand. Check here, there is some advice on how to find out what you are looking for:

Basically, aragonite sand is what you really want, the silica based is not so great for your clean up crew or anything that lives/sifts sand.
