To people who have a power filter

What do you put in it?

For me, I put a dish sponge for detritus then I put ceramic rings for biological filter. Last is my chemical filtering which consist of 2 pads, a black pad and a white pad.

I use LR rubble in one compartment and sponges in the others.

Do you use dish washer sponges?

I do not but I have read that some people do. The sponges we got once leaked dye when wrung out so I never gave that another thought.

chemical consists of two pads? at least we make our own. i use blue filter pad 312' kind. and polyfiber. you can use aqua tech filter media in marineland penguin h.o.b.filters to save money.usually dont use carbon unless i need it, so i have more room for sponge/mechanical or ceramic-balls-stars/biological media. zeolite is better than carbon alot of the time and it is rechargable, by soaking in saltwater overnight. zeolite is good for getting rid of ammonia
