Too Much Filtration???

Is there such a thing as too much filtration. I have a 55 gallon setup with a Skilter 400 (I know it sucks) as a primary filter. I also added a small 40 gallon power filter to try and help the filter out and get that sparkling clear water. Is this too much filtration? Or can there be?

Please tell us more about the tank, then maybe we can help. Hard to say whether you have enough, but it is doubtful you can have too much.

Well it si a 55 gallon setup with about 45 lbs of base rock and about 25 lbs of live rock. It has bee cycling about three weeks now. It is also has 40 lbs of live sand and 20 more lbs of just plain reef sand. It will be a FOWLR setup. That help?

Depending on what you want to house...I would remove the skilter and the other HOB, replace with a good HOB skimmer, like an AquaC remora or remora pro or a CPR bak Pak, and let the Rock and Sand handle the filtration for you

For a little more info on this method, check >>here<<.
