options are rio 800 and maxijet 1200. obviously the 1200 flows a bit more, but also uses 8 extra watts (ok not much, but everything counts when 24/7!).

Is the maxijet louder?

Is the extra flow that important in this HOB skimmer?

Sorry, this is for a new 54g tank that will be FOWLR for now.

Also, is the remora pro a better choice for this size? The 350gph of the mag drive sounds like it will help with circulation significantly... Are these pumps very loud?

Is the collection cup on the remora pro bigger (less maintainance for me)?

Would this "overskim"?

The maxijet is probably a bit louder, but it does a much better job than the rio and will be more reliable for a longer period of time.

Go with a Mag if you can...and the mag's run real quite...I have a mag 12 and a mag 3 in my 125...
