Why is my alkalinity so high

It tests 3.2 new tank no fish or lr yet. been up for a week havent tried to cycle yet. Would it be bad to add lr now.


alkalinity 3.2
ph 8.0
salinity 1.021
nitrite 0.1

What brand of test kit are you using?
I would add a raw unseasoned cocktail shrimp from your local grocerey, to start your cycle.
