i bought a fish months ago from the store and the guy gave me some of his sand.after a few days i notice a bunch of hair like feelers floating from the sand.now they are big and multiplying like crazy.they clean my tank and now i have to find something to control these alittle anyway.any idea what these worms are?how can i control them?crab, snail, shrimp maybe,i am open to suggestions

Control them by feeding the fish less or filtering more. They are living off waste food in water. They are performing you a service, keeping that food from breaking down inthe water.

Some of these worms are pretty cool and have pretty feeding fans sticking out of their hidey holes. If you don't like the ones you have you might purposely import some cooler ones to compete for the available food.
