I think we need to use the PM option a little more than we do.
Sorry about your loss Darin.

Darin,
Sorry you are going through this. If its any consolation. I was recently frauded out of $1700.00. Some jack### order multiple times with a credit care earlier this summer. Turns out it was a stolen card. I however suspect that this person was working with the card holder, but can't prove it.
Upon appeal to visa they basically told me tough luck. I'm out $1700, the inventory and this moron is no where to be found.
Business can be tough sometimes, the vendor usually gets screwed in the end. Good luck with it, bankruptcy bailed another huh. What a wimpy way out.

And now he's selling stuff now !
What a jerk...
I have a HOB CPR CS90 Overflow box.. Its in Awesome shape and has the Aqualifter pump to go with it... I would ask 50.00obo plus shipping shouldnt be too much 10.00 or so... They are listed at MD for 87.00 without the pump... Its rated for up to 600gph.. Complete with Bulkhead.. All you need to do is plumb it to a sump via Flex or PVC.. Let me know... here is the link to them on Marinedepot..
http://marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=CR1513
It is just a bit under a yr old... Has some Coralline on the inside that I wasnt able to clean but doesnt affect performance that I have noticed...
James

I am sorry about the loss you have taken here. No matter what the ultimate reasons and answers are, it still sucks you have to take the bite out of it.
He hasn't done anything blatent on our board and therefore I can't in good consciuos shun him, I am sure you can understand that. The post made with regard to this topic over on RF was removed as it didn't pertain at all to the topic at hand, it was just an attempt to stir the pot.
Again I am sorry you are in the middle of this and appartenly many others too. I hope you will continue to visit us and participate like you have as you are a true asset to our community as well.

Nothing against RF at all. I will continue to sponsor it as well as many other boards. I only posted to make others aware of his actions since there is so much selling of used equipment and such that goes on. I hate to see someone else get taken! I do not expect anyone that is not directly involved to get involved and go after James in any sort of way or shun him from board.

Yeah, the purpose of this section, as far as I know, is to simply talk about a transaction good or bad just to say, "hey, it's good to do business with this person" or "hey, don't do business with this person..." I think unless something changes we'd all do well to not jump all over anyone. I really feel for all parties here but there really isn't anything else too discuss in my opinion. Darin, I'm not a salty, too poor, but I know many people here really appreciate all you've done for them. I know it sucks, that's just business unfortunately... just keep on keeping on as they say... We're all sorry for what happened and thanks for letting us know what's happened etc... hang in there man...

Was the person in a diffrent state than you? If so, contact federal authorities as it would be Fraud in their jusridiction. I do a lot of Ebay business with items and have learned the hard way what to do. It is also the reason i ONLY deal with people in the US because it is impossible to get funds if they are out of the country... When the feds give them a call, odds are that they will pay up.. as they can actually goto prison over that. (That is also a reason I use paypal.. it verify addresses and records so there will be no question about the transaction. Also, as the type of service it is.. it is considered FRAUD and not jsut a "bounced check"). If, after you go that route and, and if it doesn;t work for you... File a small claims case agaisnt him in your town.. Legally seeing as the merchindise was at your place, the transaction is legally considered to be in your state so you can file there. They will mail him a summons. At that point you can not only sue for the money owed, but also get a resonable interest rate and any fees you encountered. The Feds will most likley fine him as well. Once you have an actual judgment against him... if he owns a home or car, you can put a lien on it.... and even foreclose on that lien. And then, if after ALL That and you still don;t get a solution.. and the scum jsut goes to jail and gets a fine and owns nothign so you don;t get your money.... "sell" your claim to a collection agency. You will probally onyl get 50 cents on the dollar (so you will get liek $700 to $800 for your $1400+ claim) but it will be better than nothing... And collection agencies will screw with him good... They will tarnish his credit report worse.. call him all times of the day, call any jobs he may have... might even call his PARENTS looking for him.
Another thing to put some "fear" in him before doign these steps would be to look up people with the same last name in his city.. if there aren;t tOO many, give htem a call.. they may be his parents.. Ask if they know him.. and expain the situation.. telling them that turning it over to the federal government for bank fraud will be your next step. With his parents all over his ***, that might get him to pay up. I hope I have been some help. -=Teej

this thread is a year old...I do not think it serves any useful purpose to rehash it all at this point.
