Comets in 40 gal.

Have a wide variety of fish In my 40 gal.

1 Angel
6 Black Skirt Tetra
3 Platys
3 Comets
1 gold qourami
1 pink kisser

Everyone has together for about 9 months. The comets are getting larger and I was wanting to know if these fish will outgrow my tank. I have been thinking about going to a 75. Do u think that would be a better size?

Welcome to AA!

Yes, the comets will outgrow the tank or suffer from stunting long term. They really are pond fish. Goldfish also prefer cooler water than "tropicals" as well.

So would the 75 keep everyone happy? Or that still to small? I thought comets only got 6 inches and with the other fish at full grown size I did the math and thought I would be okay

Comets can reach 18 inches if kept healthy. Generally 50g per fish is recommended or of course a pond. As HN1 said they require different temperatures to tropical fish so they shouldn't be kept together.
