Smile Decided to come in from the cold

Good afternoon peeps

Old fogey from the UK with two aquariums.....a 53 gallon under reconstruction and a 29 gallon with a male Betta who has a very bad attitude

Been keeping fish on/off since a kid...was Dad's fault, he got me into it

The reconstruction of the 53 gallon will begin tomorrow.

I use artificial planting since I only have to glance at a live plant and it curls up and dies - houseplants, aquatic plants, garden plants, weeds...all shrivel up and wither away

Happy to be here...I recognise a few names

Thank you for the welcome

The 53 needed reconstruction thanks to being over run by baby BN's. They went to an LFS and the rest of the fish in the aquarium went to a trusted friend who wanted to get into fishkeeping properly

Once the 53 is sorted the stock will be 30 Neon Tetras, a pair of Apisto Fire Reds and a clutch of Cories....and no BN.

Got tired of the kids taking over and being sent horrible messages when I tried unsuccessfully to control my typing digits in response to them

I know that feeling oh so well

It's 6am here....I have 28kg of sand, 4kg of stones/rocks and two boxes of other stuff arriving later for the 53 gallon. The minds eye has an awesome scape....however, it might not translate into the reality when I actually try to do it later (as is so often the case)

The joys of keeping fish....nothing ever goes how it is planned lol

This is Fred. He came to me back in August as a result of his owner being too unwell to keep him, sadly his owner subsequently passed away. Fred is a very feisty Betta who is a little over 3 years old. He now lives in a 29 gallon AquaEl aquarium with a juvenile BN that I bred. He sort of tolerates the BN though even after a few weeks sharing his home, he does show her exactly who is boss.

These are both aquariums.

To the left is the 53 gallon Diversa that is now empty. Later today the new aquascaping stuff will be delivered and then over the next day or two I shall be getting it sorted for new inhabitants arriving next week. I have kept the old media in a bucket with heated old aquarium water (something done many times before when redoing or replacing aquariums. I also have some bacteria boosters that will be added once the filters are installed and running tomorrow.

To the right is Fred's 29 gallon AquaEl aquarium.

Very nice. You should do us a tank build thread over in the FW showcase forum as you put your 53g back together.
