Smile first community tank.. ever!!

I made the leap back into fish having had fancy goldfish, African Cichlids and a small marine tank (20g) years ago. This time with a 36 gallon community tank. Set it up a week ago. I went with a canister filter (Fluval) and aquarium sand. Added 7 neon tetras, 3 peppered cory cats, and 3 dumbo ear male guppies. The guy at the fish store said I was "conservative" but having had fish before, I don't want to overload the system and have to deal with a toxic situation!!

Welcome back to aquatics, a great size tanks for a little community!!!

Since your last experience was years ago, are you familiar with the nitrification cycle?

The article link in my signature has some helpful info and it is kinda like a refresher course.

And this article about fish in cycling! Extra info about keeping the tank water safe while you cycle the tank.
