Hello everyone, new aquarium keeper. I bought my kids a small fish tank and got it all set up a few months ago and everything has been going swimmingly (pun intended).

However, we have a glo fish tetra that has always been a little different. He is smaller than the other fish and seems to hold himself aloof from the others, consistently hiding in the plants and even during feeding time he picks up whatever falls to the bottom rather than to join the frenzy at the top.

We have had him for several months and so we didn't figure he was sick until the past 3 days where he developed this polyp-like growth on his nasal openings. None of the other fish in the tank are affected, and he doesn't have spots anywhere else on his body so I didn't think it was ich.

Can anyone identify this for me?
