I appreciate the opportunity to connect and learn from all of you. I am a seasoned cichlid guy and now we are new salt water reef folks. Just kicked off our 37 G bow front yesterday- 20 lbs. live rock, skimmer, hang on, power head and working on the remainder.:fish2:

Welcome from a fellow Ohioan. I've been keeping fish for over 40 years and am still learning every day. There are alot of good people here so if you have problems or just want to show what you have go to it and again welcome to the forum.

Welcome from another Ohioan.....there's a few of us around. Whereabouts are you at?

I'm down in Franklin- between Dayton and Cincy. Good to know there's folks around these parts!! Found a nice shop in Waynesville called Aquatic Specialists, also a great wealth of info.

Thanks- I do appreciate the offer. I've got over 20 years of various fresh water but salt is a new hobby.

Ha... you're right down the road!! You've also got Monfort Aquariums down on Colerain Ave. not too far from you, Gerber's Saltwater Warehouse up here in Dayton (they're a bit overpriced, but knowledgeable). Coral Cove is up in Englewood.... small shop, but also knowledgeable people, and they're associated with a local forum.

Since you're just setting up, you won't be ready for corals yet, but there's a local frag swap going on Nov 3rd in Cinci...... still might be worth going to check out. There are also vendors who occasionally set up with saltwater equipment.
Last one I went to in Columbus was $5 to get in, and the the gift bag had a $20 Drs. Foster & Smith gift certificate plus a bunch of other goodies.

Yeah, I've read up on a few of those shops. I'm sure I'll check them out but aquatics is pretty good thus far. The guys at the shop told me about the swap meet, I'm gonna try and make it. I figure 2-4 months for my coral stocking.

Aquatic is actually one of the few I haven't checked out yet.... have to get down there.

What kind of lights are you running? And, as far as adding corals, that all depends on what you want to do. I had corals in mine within a week of the cycle being complete.....

I think it's worth checking out- very knowledgable and they actually grow corals for resale.

We currently have the basic hood but I'm upgrading to LEDs when we are ready for corals and such. Right now it's cycling and it's the waiting game.

Hopefully it shows up but I attached a photo.
