Hi all,

I'm so glad I found you all!.

I am starting a new tank and am currently in the fishless cycling process now. I conditioned the tap water with API Tap Water Conditioner. I seeded the tank with 4ppm Dr. Tim's ammonium chloride and added API Quick Start. I'm on day 7. Ammonia dropped to 0, but the nitrites are off the chart (approx 15 ppm). I'm waiting for nitrites to fall. Dr. Tim's instructions say not to dose with ammonia if the nitrites are above 5ppm. Since mine are at 15 ppm, I am not adding ammonia. If my nitrites don't fall, I'll be asking y'all for some help!

I have a 29 gallon. I'm looking at freshwater tropicals (Guppies, Plattys, Mollys). I'd like a betta with those peaceful tropicals. My pH is 8.0, so now I'm thinking instead maybe cichlids. I'm still researching cichlids. Hmmm...which way to go...
