Just thought I would stop and say hello. I have been around the saltwater aquarium business for many years, but never actually did it myself. Mainly built custom stands for a friend of mine that did maintenance.
I was able to successful have a freshwater tank for a year and a half and decided to tackle a saltwater tank. I gave my fish from my 55 to my son and started over. I am now in cycle.
My new setup consists of my 55 with a 20 gal sump. The sump has an array of bio balls and the heater. The protein skimmer is on the way. 800 gph pump puts the water back into the tank via a SQWD with 4 vortex flow enhancers. Currently have I power head running, but 2 new 350gph power heads on the way. Compact Flourescents on the way for the main tank and the sump will get one of the freshwater fixtures. Also have a single blue LED as moonlight.
