My name is Lisa and I started up my first aquarium in about 15 years right before Christmas. I went with a 45-gallon freshwater planted tank because I travel and I figured I could establish the biome over the holidays and be able to keep it going once I started traveling regularly again. I do have someone at home who can care for them when I travel, but this has become problematic, and I will most likely need some help. I appreciate all input and will do my best to give useful feedback to others.

Hi Lisa and welcome to AA. Im in the military and often have to travel. I too have someone who can care for my fish while I'm gone. However, I found it more beneficial if I just set up a automatic feeder, timers on my lights, and make a fresh batch of dyi co2 before each trip. Never had an issue.
