Hello From Sunny Central Florida
Hello everyone! I am pretty excited to begin this hobby for me and it should be fun. The picture I provided is my 55 gallon tank and stand i have just acquired. Believe it or not i got both for a total of $65!!!! I patiently searched craigslist for a month and found this baby at a habitat for humanity store and immediately got it. I have already checked and there are no leaks and everything is in order! I plan to go out this weekend to acquire the following things.
-Filstar XP2 Large Canister Filter
-Aqueon 300 watt heater
-40 pounds of light brown substrate
-plenty of fake plants and decor
-all other supplies that come with managing a tank
I plan on starting out with a community tank cycling with 10 neon tetras. Then after cycling adding some cory catfish, two angelfish, a dwarf gourami and I'm not sure what else. It is great to join a community with new and old fish goers.

Well, I did my time! I spent 10+ years in the Hudson Valley in New York. Now, been in Florida long enough to think 50* is cold, lol.

On the flip side, I can wear jeans and a sweatshirt during 100* weather, too.

Lol. Besides, I always laugh when Northerners complain about the humidity and heat of the summer. I smile on the inside as they melt!

Im from CT originally and I remember some summer days that were 95 degrees with 100% humidity. Ive also lived in ND and felt the extreme opposite of that. I went to work one morning at the airport and the car said -50, not including wind chill.

Nah! It's a constant source of amusement for us Floridians. Our saying is: "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes; it'll change."
I have seen my neighbor's house get drenched while mine stays dry. We have some straaaaaange weather patterns!
