I'm from the UK and have a 200 litre tank with a 300 litre an hour external filter , I'm going to replace it with an under gravel filter with two 520 litre per hour powerheads . Is this going to be ok or do I still need to keep the external filter ?

I would keep the external filter on. It will help seed the UG filter. Not many people use UG filters these days, why the choice? Just wondering the decision making on it, not questioning you or anything.

It's good to meet you. Hope I can help with anything you need in the future.

Hi thanks for replying so quickly . We had fish tanks when we were kids and
my dad used ugf's and he had no problems with them and kinda suggested the
idea to me , and I've got a really good pump with four outlets on it and
thought it would be the best option. I thought the external filter that I
have was enough to do the job but asked the local fish shop about it and
they said it wasn't enough and that I needed a 600 litre an hour external
filter or to put a second filtration system in there , so instead of using
the pump I thought I'd invest in two powerheads and have ordered more
airline , airline connectors and 10 air stones which I will fit three to so
I can use the pump for about 8 hours a day to provide some air circulation
in the tank as well . We are a large family and money is a bit of an issue
so the ugf was the best option for me .
