I have been in fw fish hobby for 2 years. Currently have a 33gal with 5 2" discus…I knew it is way too small for discus. Upgrade to a 75 or 90 gal is my plan in few months. But mbuna setup is my new consider. Mainly because the water ph here is difficult to keep lower than 7.8, no mention below 7. However I still like discus especially wild caught. So I am struggling what direction to go.
Anyway, my current discus seem to be happy. I feed 3 times a day rotate with frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms and flake food. I do 25% water change weekly. I can do more % but the readings seem to be ok. Not sure if it because the 10 gal sump and/or the live plants. I like live plants, like to see the fish pairing, breeding, growth. I don't like water changes unless have to because the water bill. So RO will not be my consideration.
I am open for suggestions, and happy to see all the shares here.
