The long and short of our story is about three years ago my daughter decided she wanted a fish so off she went...:ermm: to PETCO and bought an Albino Oscar to which she was not educated on. The first one died so they replaced it and we bought her a 10-gal tank for her later. He out grew it within about 4 months. This is when we got educated about Oscars by Petsmart's Fish guru, who explained that he would need at least a 100-gal tank but would be OK with the 75 we had found w/stand for $100. Well, Mr. Ugly died in June 3 years after she bought him from hole in head.

We are in process of repopulating the tank and looking for advice and guidance. We currently have 8 Tiger Barbs (that we got for cycling the tank as the previous tank had to be cleaned and it cracked during process and needed to be replaced). We just got 4 Dwarf Neon Blue Gourami's and they are not going so well. Not sure if its from the barbs or just sick coming from store. The tank did complete its cycle before we added any additional
fish after the 8 barbs.

We live in Southern Maryland, south of DC. We do not have much in way of options for purchasing fish except from PETCO and Petsmart without several hours drive.
