Here is the deal, i have been reading tons. Yet my question seems to fall short on answers, even for Google... I have a brand new filter in a 2 week cycled tank with ZERO old media to work with.(again for those who go off on tangents about how to use old media or continuing to use the old filter while the new one "breaks-in") THIS NOT AN OPTION , AT ALL!!!!
1. 2 week cycled tank (with 5 goldies) (Adopted from very crappy conditions)
2. 32 gallon tank (YES I KNOW THEY ARE OVER CROWDED AND STUNTED) like i said it was a rescue situation. I have bought and started a 26 gallon but it is still cycling...to transfer some goldies too)
3. The PREVIOUS owner had no filter, hence why i have a new one with all new media
My questions:
1.What should i be looking for with my test kit , over what time frame
2. how long will my 32g tank be cycling for (with 5, 6 year old goldies)(and a brand new filter added to a 2 week semi cycled tank)
3.how often can i do a water change(every 12hrs or 24hrs)
4. what percentage should i be exchanging
5.when do i add aquarium salt
6. how long does it take a fish tank to cycle WITHOUT fish
7.Are the Fluval U series filters good, i hope so as they are the ones i got. I have the U2 in the 26gallon and the U3 in the 32 gallon
