New here...I need help with my eheim filter flow.

I recently returned to tropical fish after many years. The new technology is hard to get used to using. My main issue is my Eheim ecco 2236. It doesn't come close to its pumping output, even after cleaning. My tank is about 8 months along, PH is 7.6, nitrites are 0, ammonia is 0, nitates are 0. GH and KH are on the high side. The filter is not very dirty when I check it but I do have trouble removing all the air. need Input.

The ecco line filters leave much to be desired, I'd recommend swapping it for a classic series canister.

I read another post that said the entire filter system should be cleaned, including all hoses. I followed that advise, even shooting old filter material thru the hoses (worked great), put it together and wow! Now I need a diffuser!!!! I don't remember who posted but thanks alot.
