New owner of 30 gal tank

I just started up our tank, and placed 3 cichlids and 1 plecotomus(sp) bottom feeder. We have lost all but one cichids. I placed a heater in the tank, and have 1 live plant. Any ideas what may be wrong, or what can I do?

What kind of bottom feeder do you have, not always but sometimes bottom feeders can be aggressive like Siamese algea fish can get big and get bored in a smaller tank and attack other fish. That's jut a guess tho on what happened soo I'm not for sure but good luck hope you can figure it out

Have you cycled the tank? Do you have a test kit?

Welcome! I'm guessing your not cycled. That's probably the reason why your fish died.
