Aquarium Advice Newbie
After having won the centerpiece betta bowl at an event held by the insurance company that provides coverage to our fire company, I launched into providing a better living space for "George" with a 5 gal. tank. He seemed happy, until he "committed suicide" by swimming up the pump intake one night. The "Dude" replaced him, along with a foam piece to prevent a recurrence of the previous tragedy. I have now learned NOT to overfeed a betta as they will gorge themselves, and this fish became constipated and passed in the middle of the night. Hoping the third time will be the charm, my little buddy "Gilligan" has replaced the previous occupants. Thinking I had learned enough to spring for a twin tail half moon betta, I found a new term I had no knowledge of - cycling. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for now and hoping the partial water changes and attention to diet will leave me with a survivor.
