New tank drama :(

I have a new salt water aquarium (29 gl) and followed everything my pet store expert advised and my fish started out great but one of my damsels shaking violently and breathing fast. Any ideas what to check for?

How long has tank been up? Is it cycled? You'll get more help if you post this in the saltwater section "Getting started".

What are your parameters? Nitrates crazy high?

Nitrates and nitrites are normal, salt is at 1.023, and kh at 7.5.

What about ammonia? Is your tank cycled? How much liverock and live sand? Got enough flow?

I have a power head and filter appropriate for a 40 gl tank. I think what I need is a test kit. I followed what the store recommended and felt that I didn't get the right info. Don't know the ammonia level. I have used Quistart and stresscoat + from API so far.

Yeah you definitely need test kits. I'm sure your levels aren't what they were when you were at the store last.
