New to the site

Hi guys I'm a newbie when it comes to the fish scene, moved from snakes and lizards as daughter arriving made it less practical to keep them. Got a 15 gallon community tank with 2 amano shrimp, 3 neon tetras, a small angel fish and a red claw crab. Recently aquascaped it as I first started with the dreaded pebbles and tacky ornaments. Using the new fluval shrimp stratum, fluval u2 filter and added some moss balls.

Recently ordered the fluval ebi shrimp tank and will be using it as a project to do a tree aquascape using some java, Christmas moss and a piece of Sumatran bogwood. I'll be taking pics and uploading them as I go along so as you guys can help me along the way keep your eyes peeled for my threads

Welcome!

Good looking tank, my ears perked up when I read XMas moss! Any insite would be good, as I have a DW kinda log that I want to grow moss on and java is a bit too stringy for the look I want.

Well little is known about Xmas moss but it comes from the java strain and it bushes out with a triangular appearance giving it a "christmas tree" look. I'll let you know how I get on with it but I have seen some pics that look amazing with Xmas moss (google Xmas moss in images) java is best as a carpet using mesh I've read!

I have java moss and it's good, but I'm looking for a moss ball kind of affect (it grows too slow), like on an old oak.

Yep, google is everyones best friend on the interweb .

Sounds like a nice idea, another effect is using some willow moss as that can create an old willow tree effect but hard to get the right effect.

Do you mean moss from a tree? Good idea to keep in mind. This piece will be laying down so an old oak look is what I want.

No I meant Willow Moss - Fontinalis antipyretica for aquarium, it creates a willow tree effect, moss can be amazing! I received my fluval ebi today so will create my thread now!
