Hello, just introducing myself. I have a ten gallon tank with eight platies. Two came from the fish store and the other six we raised from being born in the tank. The oldest is four months old. I'm hoping to be on the healing end of a recent fin and tail rot episode. One of my kids dumped in a "pile" of flakes on the gravel, 
hasn't been the same since. On the plus side, one fish's tail split has grown back together, on the minus side, the fish that got it the worst still hangs out on the bottom and hides more than usual. My tank recently got too cold, was fiddling with the heater, trying to warm it up again. I don't like my heater because it's difficult to tell whether I'm raising or lowering the temperature, or even if it's working. There's supposed to be a color-change in the marked windows as to whether you are going up or down, but it's really hard to see.
