Whats the difference between exhibit tanks and holding tanks? What are the exhibit tanks used for?

Exhibit tank is a nicely fixed up tanks with plants and so on. It can be any size. These are the kind of tanks that people have in their living rooms. A holding tank is usually fish only, with no ornaments or plants. This is the kind of tank that a fish store would have. It is the same tank, but the set-up is different.

Beauty /Aesthetics for viewing purposes vs. utilitarian use as the primary function. Display tank also noted as DT.

Quarantine tank QT - also a stopping point to help determine if your fish received from outside sources or in the event of illness or injury needs medication or special attention to make sure it won't infect your other fish with illness or parasites.

Usually kept minimally without substrate so they are easy to clean and sanitize. Just what would be need to keep fish comfortable - say hiding places, plastic plants.

Breeding tank can be a place for the aquatic creatures specifically created with breeding needs of the aquatic critter in mind. Often would be typically smaller than a display tank.
