I am new! I am returning to the hobby from being on leave for a few years. I grew up with fish tanks in my parents' house in the 50s, and have personally had fresh (and one saltwater tank) for most of my life, but never super techy.
I am now attempting to start up a 20 gallon long planted /fish tank (on a budget), and hope to have some simple shrimp friends. (reds and maybe crystals). Always learning!

Welcome aboard! The best advice I could give you right off the bat is don't rush it; shrimp can be finicky until your tank is stable. After that, you'll probably find you have more shrimp than you know what to do with!

I would love to have a shrimp tank, but am a bit worried about their sensitivity, so haven't tried as of yet. Anyway, welcome! Step into our parlor.

I also suggest an established tank. I received a gift of 10 RCS back in October and I probably have 40-60 now.
