Hi. I have a 10gl new aquarium. I'm new to the aquarium world but have had 8 betas. I really want to get 2 platies, 3 guppies and 5 cardinal tetras. Is that to many? I hope not. Here is a pic. Please get back to me ASAP. I'm going fish shopping tomorrow. (Only getting 5 tomorrow) I know that's a lot for one trip but I've made it all very comfortable for my fish. Welcome to the forum. Start slow with stocking, the cardinals would look nice in that tank and maybe 3 dwarf Cory catfish.

I apologize, but that is far too many bettas for a 10G tank already. The platies, tetra, or guppies would just further over stock it IMO.

There aren't any betas in my tank. I just mean I have had 8 betrays throughout the span of my life. I don't have any right now.

I think the OP was talking about past experience with bettas, not that they were going into the new 10 gallon tank. If so you're right it would be overstocked (at least until they start fighting!)

Aha... sorry about that. I had completely misread it. I think I would recommend going with just one type of livebearer, but it should work. I'd also recommend neons rather than cardinals. Cards get quite a bit larger than their typical "sold at size".

I'd go with neon tetras over cardinals. They look the same but are smaller and you could probably get 7.
