Hi, I'm anniem and new to this sight!! It looks like a lot of fun!
I would like some advise,,,I have rainbows, barbs, red hondurin cichlids and some cat fish. I have always (22 years) set my water temputure at 78 degrees fh. A friend of mine says thats way too high, that i should go about 74 degrees fh.
Ok fish friends, what do you think??

Mine is was at 80, which is a little too high and I turned it down to 78.

77 to 78 is ideal imo

That is about where mine is, between 74-78 in a 29 FW.

Welcome to AA! My tank temp is at 78 so it's fine. Hope you like the site so far!

The honduran can tolerate temps between 73° - 82°
depending on the barb, they can tolerate a temp anywhere from 68° to 79° & Catfish can be anywhere from 72° - 82°
Your temp should be just fine with your fish
as a side note, my tank has been and will always be a steady 80° with no ill effects from my fish
