12 hrs or 24hrs refug lights

I have just set up my refugium with cheato. I think that is how it is spelled. I would like to know what is reccomended for lighting. I know this is a big debate about 12 hrs vs 24hrs. I think that I am leaning towards just having the refug lights on at night, but wouldl very much like more input.

I have mine on opposite the tank lights. When tank lights go off the fuge lights come on and vice versa.

I've got Chaeto and Caulerpa in my fuge so I'm lighting it 24/7. I don't THINK that you have to worry about Chaeto as much as you have to worry about caulerpa though. I've heard that lighting 24/7 and keeping it pruned will prevent it from going sexual (anyone care to comment on the need to do that?)
