hey guys i have a 20 gallon long nano reef tank. I have a 30" 2x18w 36 watt t5 double linear light on there right now. A friend told me that i need better light.

i was considering three possible options.

1 getting another 30" t5 and just run two 36 watt t5s.

30" Aqualight T-5 - Double Linear Strip - 58021

2 get a 24" 2x24 watt T5 High output retro kit, this is what my friend baught and strongly suggested. said he think i might be able to have hard coral

24" 2 x 24w T5 HO Retrofit Kit - 24224

3 i also found this while searching a 175w metal halide kit thats cheaper then the t5 retro kit and it comes with a bulb.

JBJ K-1 175W Metal Halide Retrofit Kit with FREE XM Lamp!! - K-1-175P

let me know what you think, and offer me what ever suggestions you can thanks !

I think that if you have the money to blow on the metal halide light then go for it. I hear those lights are the strongest and if you had the correct one you could support just about every coral there is available for the tanks.

yea but ive heard the metal halide ballast burn out alot! i figure metal halide is probably the best bet !
