I took the innexpensive route for lighting and bought 2 18'' 15watt fluorescent T5 light bulbs from wal-mart there ment for kitchens i believe is this enough to grow plants? if not is there any other cheap alternatives

It depends on what kind of plants u want to keep. Most kitchen flourescents dont have enough of the proper spectrums for plants.
