I want to buy some new PC replacement bulbs for my unit.

36W
straight 4 pin config
Actinics

Any suggestions on a brand to buy. Who has best actinics, best quality, etc....?

And whats the difference between Blue 7100K and Regular Actinic?

I came up with these two:

Coralife Compact Fluorescent Replacement Lamp 16"
Part#: RES54081 Photo Straight Pin 36W Actinic $18.98 ea

(12) INDIVIDUAL 36 WATT STRAIGHT PIN $8/each + $25 S/H
All for $121 complete. That would last me 3 years.

This sounds like a SUPER deal. But are they crappy bulbs? Anyone ever buy from these guys?

Well, I ordered only 2 of the bulbs from powercompactlights.com. So we shall see how good they are. If good, I'll let you all know.

It is usually worthwhile to see what the major manufacturers, such as GE, Philips and Sylvania have to offer, as these are generally available at lower cost than 'Aquarium lights", although the prices look pretty good at that site.

Actinic 03 (420nm) / 7100K (460nm) length of light wave.

I generally buy replacement bulbs from hellpwlights.com...

If you have a "yellow" looking tank, then get the "Blue 7,100K" bulbs. Since it is visually brighter, they are GREAT at washing out yellow, and causing a tank to look whiter. But, if you want to benefit your corals with a very strong spike in the violet range, then go with Actinic 03.
