I have serious problems with my aquarium lighting, because I just have 50 watts (25 white and 25 blue) and I know its not enough, so I decided to biuld a led lamp.

Im thinking about 200 watts (100 white and 100 blue) for my tank (120 x 30 x 40 cms) 40 gal.

I want to buy 4 high power led modules each one of 50 watts, like the one on this link www.smith.com.mx/led.jpg

My doubts about my project are:

1.- 200 watts are enough for my tank?

2.- In case 200 watts are to much, is there a negative effect for having to much light?

3.- What is better 2 modules of 50 watts each of 10 independent leds of 10 watts each one?

The tech specification for the modules I want to buy are:

White module:

Lens Color: Water Clear
Emitted Color : White
DC Forward Voltage (VF): 30~35Vdc
DC Forward Current (IF): 1500mA
Viewing Angle: 140 Degree
Color Temperature: 20000K
Intensity Luminous (Iv): 3500~4000LM
Input Voltage: AC 100V-240V 50/60Hz
Output Voltage: 30V-35V
Current: 1500mA
Operating Temperature: -20~80

Blue module:

Lens Color: Water Clear
Emitted Color : Blue
DC Forward Voltage (VF): 30~35Vdc
DC Forward Current (IF): 1500mA
Viewing Angle: 140 Degree
Wavelength: 455-465 nm
Intensity Luminous (Iv): 1000~1500LM
Input Voltage: AC 100V-240V 50/60Hz
Output Voltage: 30V-35V
Current: 1500mA
Operating Temperature: -20~80
Storage Temperature: -20~80

Thanks for all your help.

Idk bud, I had seen someone posting a how to using these same lights. Looked like he only used two though, and each one was built apart.

He had what looked like a large processor heat synch for each one, a fan on each one, and power for each one.

Let me know how the build works out, I'm working with the lights on my tank.

Not wanting 4-6 t5 48" lights running, I have two 36" lights for center coverage, a 48" for full coverage, and am building spot lights for high demanding corrals. Dont se the lundy point in lighting spots of the tank nothing is going to grow...
