Advice on a new skimmer

Hi I'm using a Tropical Marine Centre V2 200 Compact Protein Skimmer, I have had it for almost a year and it's always been so noisy in my living room, I was told by the manufacture it would get quieter with time but it's really load 11 months on, its time to get a new protein skimmer but I'm not sure where to start. I don't use a sump (canister filter) and it needs to be almost silent, Any advice and past experiences would be great full
